It’s fourth against fifth in the table and only one point separates the sides going into this historic clash on Saturday.

Chivas have picked up 21 points from their opening 11 games and sit in fourth, while América are fifth with 20 points.

The team from Guadalajara have a goal difference of +5; América have a goal difference of +9, but have fewer victories than their rivals in 2023.

Chivas

The average age of the current Chivas squad is 26.

1. Víctor Guzmán

Guzmán has five goals in 10 appearances this season, in what is an impressive return for the attacking midfielder. He’s the joint-fifth-highest scorer in Liga MX for the current campaign.

2. Roberto Alvarado

At the age of 24, Alvarado has 33 caps for Mexico. The former Cruz Azul player plays out wide, is left-footed and has three assists for the club in Clausura 2023.

3. Fernando Beltrán

Beltrán has been a regular at the club over the last few seasons having come through the youth system at Chivas. He operates in a central midfield role and has played for Mexico nine times.

Club América

The average age in the América squad is 27. We have taken a look at three of their players ahead of this weekend’s Clásico against Chivas.

1. Henry Martín

The 30-year-old forward has had a flying start to the season, with 10 goals and three assists in 11 games for América. Martín is two goals ahead of Monterray’s Rogelio Funes Mori in the goalscoring charts in the Mexican top flight.

2. Diego Valdés

The Chilean is an attacking midfielder. Behind Martín in the goalscoring charts, however, he has chipped in with four goals in just 11 games and has also registered two assists.

3. Jonathan Rodríguez

The Uruguayan forward had spells with Deportivo de La Coruña in Spain and Benfica in Portugal, before making his way across the Atlantic and into Liga MX.

Rodríguez is currently valued at €6m by Transfermarkt, and has scored three goals in 694 minutes for the side from the capital.

The Clásico de México this weekend will be the 185th league meeting between the sides.
