Barcelona close to landing Azpilicueta

The Catalan side are confident that the Chelsea captain will resolve his contract situation in the next few days and sign for the club.

Update:
Barcelona close to landing Azpilicueta

Barcelona are confident of landing Chelsea captain César Azpilicueta, according to reports from London. Azpilicueta is close to finalising an agreement with the Premier League club regarding his departure.

New Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly, is in the process of targeting signings and preparing for departures. Azpilicueta is confident that he will be able to resolve his contractual situation in the next few days and reach an agreement with Chelsea.

Azpilicueta’s experience

If confirmed, his move to Barcelona would be made official in the next few weeks, as the player has a pre-contract agreement with the Catalan club to play for the next four seasons. His arrival would be a huge boost to Xavi’s squad, not only for his experience but also for what he offers on the pitch.

The Spain international is considered to be a key part of Barça’s plan. His versatility is a large part of their interest, he can play at right-back or centre-back.

The signing of Azpilicueta arrival could Dani Alves or Sergiño Dest moving on. As this newspaper previously reported, the American full-back could be sold if the right offer comes in or be used as part of a potential swap deal. Sevilla showed their interest in Dest in January and with Barcelona interested in Jules Koundé, the clubs could come to an agreement.

Marcos Alonso is also attracting interest from Barça. The Spanish left-back still has a year left on his contract but wants to return to Spain.
