Chelsea midfielder Jorginho set for move across London to Arsenal
Italy international Jorginho will leave Chelsea to join Premier League rivals Arsenal.

After missing out on the transfer of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, Arsenal decided to go for Chelsea player Jorginho. A major factor in the Gunners’ favour is the expiration of Jorginho’s contract. The Italian midfielder’s contract with the Blues expires in June, making it easier for him to join Arsenal on a cheap deal.

United without Eriksen
Had he not been released in January, Jorginho would have left Stamford Bridge as a free agent in the summer. Jorginho’s transfer will be completed for a fee in the region of £12-13 million. Chelsea paid almost £60m to prise him from Napoli in 2018. The Italian, 31, will arrive at the Emirates Stadium on a one-year contract until 2024 with the option to extend it for another season.

Third Arsenal signing
Once the Gunners make his signing official, Jorginho will become Arsenal’s third winter signing. After the arrival of Leandro Trossard from Brighton, the London club also signed Jakub Kiwior to strengthen their defence. Now, Jorginho will sign for Arsenal to fight for a place in the midfield with Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka, as well as becoming another alternative for Mikel Arteta.
