Tottenham breathe sigh of relief in Premier League relegation battle

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of avoiding a shock relegation from the Premier League were given a boost, albeit a minor one, on Monday as West Ham, who are also battling to avoid the drop, were held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace in their game in hand.

West Ham fail to pull clear in survival scrap

Had the Hammers come out on top at Selhurst Park, Spurs’ future in the division would have looked far more precarious. A West Ham win would have opened up a four-point gap over Spurs, who conceded an injury-time equalizer in a home draw against Brighton on Saturday.

As it stands, the stalemate against Palace means Nuno Espirito Santo’s team are only two points ahead of their London rivals, who remain in the relegation zone with five games left to play.

Forest add pressure at the bottom

Nottingham Forest, who are also fighting to avoid the drop to the Championship, gave their survival hopes a major lift with a 4-1 win over Burnley on Sunday. The result moves them five points clear of Spurs, with 15 points still available.

Wolves’ relegation confirmed

The draw between Palace and West Ham means Wolves’ relegation, which has been on the cards all season, has finally been confirmed.
