With the eight teams that will compete in the Liguilla now having been confirmed, Mexican football will begin to experience the intensity of the big celebration this week. The Liga MX Apertura quarterfinals are set.

Following the November FIFA international break and the Play-In, the six teams that qualified directly will finally be back in action. The likes of América, Monterrey, Tigres, Pumas, Chivas, and Puebla went almost two and a half weeks without participating in an official match.

When will the Apertura 2023 quarterfinals be played?

The quarterfinals of the Apertura 2023 will kick off on Wednesday 29 November, with two matches in the first stage of the Liguilla. Subsequently, on Thursday 30 November, the first leg encounters will be completed with two more duels.

The second leg matches are scheduled to take place from Saturday 2 December, featuring two games as well. Similarly, the remaining matches will be contested on Sunday 3 December.

What are the Apertura 2023 quarterfinals?

The quarters line up as follows:

  • América vs Leon
  • Rayados vs SanLuis
  • Tigres vs Puebla
  • Pumas vs Chivas

Who could play on Saturday and who on Sunday

As América was the leader of the regular tournament, it is very likely that their game days will be Wednesday and Saturday, the same days that Monterrey would likely face Atlético San Luis.

Tigres and Pumas, who will be the hosts in the second leg matches, would play their ties against Puebla and Chivas on Thursday and Sunday, respectively. The former would contest the second leg match on Sunday at noon.
