Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas eyes “The new Lionel Messi”

Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas reflected on the current state of his club and Major League Soccer during a conversation alongside Ferran Soriano of City Football Group. “A lot of people think we only brought Messi to Miami, but Suárez, Alba and Busquets also came,” he said. “I’d like to enjoy Leo while we have him, at least for the two more years left on his contract. We’ve raised the bar for consumers.”

Looking ahead, Mas outlined the direction of the project with a clear sense of ambition. “Who will be the next Messi we bring? We’re going to sign star players from Europe,” he explained. “But we’ll also look for young talent from South America and Europe so that the United States gains a sense of identity and feels part of it.”

Mas also stressed the importance of competing on the global stage, pointing to the club’s performance in the Club World Cup. “We were the first American team to win a game at the Club World Cup. It was incredible,” he said. “We’re already the fifth most-watched league. It’s something that hasn’t been fully exploited, and we want to do that. We have to aim for excellence,” he concluded.
