Update:
Jenni Hermoso ‘on fire’ in Mexico as World Cup looms

Jenni Hermoso has taken to Mexico as the Madrid born striker continues to find the net for her side in the Liga MX Femenil. The 32-year-old’s goals have been instrumental in boosting Pachuca to their current third place standing in the table.

The Spaniard is joint top scorer on 17 strikes along with Pachuca Femenil team-mate Charlyn Corral and as the Clausura 2023 campaign winds down, Pachuca are poised to advance to the next stage of the season.

Jenni moved to the Mexican club last June, after missing out on Euro 2022 due to injury. She made her competitive first team debut in mid-August against Querétano and scored her first goal in a September game against Atlas.

Unleashed in the Clausura

The former Barcelona, Atlético and PSG striker has bagged doubles as part of the 17 goal haul hitting a brace in games against Toluca, Pumas, León, Tijuana, Necaxa and Atlético San Luis.

Her current vein of form is excellent news for Jorge Vilda with the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand looming on the horizon.

‘Pichichi’ record

Hermoso now has her sights fixed on the Pichichi (top scorer) award, to add to her five times top scorer when at FC Barcelona accolade. “People believe that scoring goals is easy, It’s not a matter of luck...”. When you fail to score, it can affects the player a lot,” she admits at this point in her career, with the World Cup set to provide a fitting stage in culminating her international carreer.
