Jorge Vilda is set to become the new women’s coach of Morocco. The world champion with the Spanish national team at the recent World Cup in Australia and New Zealand has reached an agreement with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and will lead its women’s team for the next four seasons. Vilda will take over with Morocco accompanied by his own coaching staff with the North African side setting their sights on the 2027 World Cup.

Vilda was dismissed by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on 5 September after a brief meeting held with Pedro Rocha, interim president, present.

The controversy with former RFEF president Luis Rubiales and Vilda’s close relationship with the ousted Rubiales made his position untenable at the helm as his assistant Montse Tome stepped up to take the reins with the side.

In his time with the Spanish FA, Jorge Vilda oversaw a purple patch as he combined the position of national coach with that of sports director of the women’s section of the RFEF. In this time Spain managed to become world champion in the absolute, Under-20 and Under-17 categories.
