Leo Suárez registered with América ahead of new Liga MX season
Suárez has convinced coach Fernando Ortíz and will have a second chance with América.
On Saturday, after training with América for over two weeks, Leo Suárez was finally registered with Liga MX after convincing Águilas coach Fernando Ortíz to give him a second chance at the Mexican club.
Suárez arrived at América for Clausura 2020, after playing for Mallorca in Spain. He was never able to establish himself as a starter and in his last tournament with Las Águilas, and before being loaned to Santos, he played 159 minutes in three games, starting two.
With Los Laguneros, the Argentine played in 18 games, eight as a starter, scoring six goals. Suárez was registered as one of ten players not born in Mexico for the new season.
Registered in time for Clausura 2023 opener
With his registration cleared, he is now eligible for first-team action, should Ortíz decide to select him in América’s Clausura 2023 opener against Querétaro.
Las Águilas will face Los Gallos Blancos on Saturday at 17:00 (local time) at the Estadio Azteca.
