Does it ever really stop? Does it even slow down? It feels like just two minutes have passed (probably because it’s true) since Pachuca were crowned champions of the Apertura 2022 and now we’re already thinking about the 2023 Clausura? Yes, we are. We want all the football. Can we have a mid-season World Cup, too?

The Liga MX Clausura 2023 already has a confirmed start date: Friday 6 January will be when we see the tournament commence, with a break in the last week of March for, ahem, FIFA international games. The final will be on 28 May 2023.

Pachuca celebrated their seventh title win in the club's history after beating Toluca over two legs in the final.

When will the calendar be announced?

Say it with me: we want more games! Liga MX President Mikel Arriola announced that the tournament’s schedule will be announced during Mexico’s pre-World Cup game with Iraq on 9 November. The football will be announced during the football. We can never have too much, right?

The Apertura 2023 is also already planned out with the league deciding that 30 June shall be the beginning and the tournament will close on 17 December. I suppose all of this sport is not a bad thing, as the statistics show that the last Liga MX tournament was the highest-scoring of the modern era, so whatever happens, us football fans are in for a treat.

So, while Pachuca continue to celebrate their seventh title, we will once again be glued to our screens in excitement as the football circus continues to roll on and entertain everywhere it goes.
