Pachuca striker Jenni Hermoso first to arrive in Australia ahead of Cup of Nations
The Spanish national team land in Australia for the four team Cup of Nations with Jenni Hermoso being the first player to arrive.
The Spanish national team are off ‘down under’ as they embark on their penultimate round of games before the 2023 World Cup which gets underway in July.
Jorge Vilda’s team will face Jamaica, Australia and the Czech Republic (February 16, 19 and 22, respectively) in the Cup of Nations competition playing three games in six days.
The Spanish delegation left Madrid on Monday and after a layover in Qatar made the final 14 hour stretch of the journey to Sydney where the tournament will be staged.
Jenni arrives first
Jenni Hermoso was the first ‘La Roja’ player to arrive with the Pachuca forward flying direct from Mexico.
The rest of the Spanish team arrive on Tuesday and will participate in their first training session on Wednesday, a day before the game against Jamaica.
One of the reasons why head coach Jorge Vilda chose this tournament is that the players would know what to expect when they return in July for the World Cup arrives with the trip offering ideas on how to deal with the time difference and jet lag with Australia currently 10 hours ahead of Central European time.
