According to information from César Merlo which AS México was able to corroborate, Nathan Silva is the player chosen to strengthen Pumas’ defence. The 26-year-old former youth international with Brazil currently plays for Atlético Mineiro in his native country. Mohamed spent six months as coach of the South American club, winning the Supercopa do Brasil and Campeonato Mineiro last year so knows the defender well.
Mineiro would begin to listen to offers starting at three million dollars - which would make him one of the most expensive signings in Pumas’ history.
Pre-season in Acapulco
The team is currently working in the Mexican port although Nicolás Freiré did not travel with the rest of the squad. The Argentine centre-back does not enter into the coach’s plans for the next tournament and the club are willing to listen to offers for him.
