Real Madrid is going all in. First came Álvaro Arbeloa’s farewell, then the arrival of José Mourinho, confirmed after Florentino Pérez was re-elected as club president. Next up will be the formal announcements of incoming and outgoing players. As Diario AS has been reporting, on top of the deals for Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries, there has been a flurry of movement in recent days, aside from Madrid’s rejected bid for Julián Álvarez. Transfer talks are progressing, and the next deal likely to be finalized appears to be Bernardo Silva.

The club’s hierarchy has accepted the terms proposed by the Portuguese international and, if everything proceeds as expected, the former Manchester City star will become a Real Madrid player for the next two seasons. Mourinho has made several requests, and the club is working to accommodate the returning head coach in his second spell in charge. The easiest to complete was Silva’s signing; once he realized a move to the Spanish giants was possible, he put other negotiations on hold.

Madrid in for Silva after U-turn on ex-City star

Silva and his agent, Jorge Mendes, decided to bring his time at City to a close and began exploring options. The first club they approached was Madrid, who - somewhat surprisingly - initially passed on the opportunity to pursue a deal.

Days later, Silva’s name surfaced at Camp Nou and the Metropolitano. Barcelona and Atlético Madrid both pushed to convince the midfielder, though neither managed to secure a formal commitment. The situation shifted dramatically when Silva learned that Madrid - a club he faced several times during his successful spell at City - were once again in the picture.

This new scenario has increasingly tilted things in Madrid’s favor, and now an agreement is on the verge of becoming reality. In the coming days, Silva could be added to Mourinho’s locker room - a player the coach believes can bring the character and winning mentality that have defined the Portuguese star’s career.
