The British Government has approved the $5.35 billion offer from businessman Todd Boehly to acquire Chelsea, and the American is set to take control in the upcoming days. Once the deal is complete, the west London side will have to rebuild because many players are set to leave the club in the summer, and some, like Christian Pulisic, have yet to make a decision.

“We are hoping [to be back to normal] but at the moment we are not,” Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said when asked about summer transfer plans. “You ask many times if we have a delay in approaching players and making plans, of course a huge delay. We are affected by it, players are going out. We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging but we are up for the challenge.”

Neymar the big name on the list

Chelsea will have a very busy summer transfer window and according to a report from Four Four Two, Boehly wants to bring in Neymar during this period as his first big signing. The Brazil international has already played under Tuchel’s spell at Paris Saint-Germain and once the consortium takes over, Chelsea will have around £200 million available for transfers this summer.

With Kylian Mbappé signing a contract extension at PSG, the Ligue 1 side is willing to let go of Neymar if the right offer comes to the table. The 30-year-old Brazilian has a good relationship with Tuchel- who praised him during an interview in 2019- and could fill in the No. 10 role if Pulisic decides to move away from Stamford Bridge.

“It’s a friendship but, at the same time, a huge mutual respect. I respect him as a coach but when we need to talk, we talk,” said Tuchel during an interview with Canal+ in 2019 when he managed PSG. “I’ve developed a great affection towards him since the first time we spoke. When you have this great affection for your coach, you give your life on the pitch. For him I will do my best to win.”
