The $230-million owners of the 2025 winter transfer market, and the also rans
As it may now be expected, the big bucks of the English Premier League have proved dominant when it comes to signings, and this was the case again in January.

Monday, February 3, 2025, marked the final day of the winter transfer window in Europe’s top leagues, making it the perfect moment to assess which teams had the most successful signings. Manchester City, Aston Villa, and AC Milan were the standout clubs of the winter market, ensuring all eyes will be on them in the second half of the 2024-25 season.
Pep Guardiola’s side made a major statement, spending around $230 million to secure the services of Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, and Nico González. The Egyptian forward arrives to bolster City’s attack, while the Uzbek and Brazilian defenders strengthen the backline. Meanwhile, the Spanish midfielder is set to land in England with the challenging task of filling in for Rodri Hernández.
Aston Villa, led by Unai Emery and Monchi, played the market smartly. They will benefit from the $108 million earned through the sales of Jhon Durán (Al-Nassr) and Jaden Philogene (Ipswich Town). But they didn’t stop there—Donyell Malen ($27 million), Andrés García ($7.5 million), Marcus Rashford (loan), and Marco Asensio (loan) all joined the squad, significantly reinforcing their attack.
AC Milan, under Sérgio Conceição, followed closely behind in the transfer stakes. Desperate to climb the Serie A table and secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds via the playoffs, the Rossoneri made a series of strategic moves. They secured Kyle Walker (loan), Santiago Giménez ($34 million), João Félix (loan for $6 million), Riccardo Sottil (loan for $1 million), and Warren Bondo ($11 million).
