The controversial message from Mexican Julián Araujo after Nacho’s Girona tackle: “Thank God”
The Barcelona player, on loan at Las Palmas, published an image that is certainly open for interpretation.
Real Madrid’s victory against Girona was marred in the final minutes by Nacho’s horror tackle on Portu. It was a move that no one understood and, after the VAR review, rightfully ended in a red card for the Madrid player. Such was the surprise surrounding the challenge that social media was immediately filled with messages condemning the behaviour of the Madrid player, who later apologised publicly. But among all the messages, one from a professional player has drawn a lot of attention.
The comment comes from Mexican full-back, Julián Araujo, who plays for Las Palmas on loan from Barcelona. It also happens that Araujo played against Real Madrid last Wednesday at the Bernabéu in a clash that ended 2-0 to Los Blancos and in which the US-born Mexican participated, crossing paths with Nacho.
What did Julián Araujo about Nacho?
Well, after the Montilivi match, the right-back published an image on his Instagram in which he is seen running with the ball while being chased by Nacho.
That’s already controversial enough, but the most striking thing is the message that accompanies the image, a ‘Thank God’ (and the prayer emoji) that obviously has given rise to many interpretations, although many believe it to be a reference to the tough challenge from the Madrid captain that got him sent off. For as long as Araujo himself does not clarify the message, the mystery will continue.
