French outlet L’Équipe has published the results of the fan poll they conducted for the Ballon d’Or, the final results of which are being announced this evening, and it shows overwhelming support for Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. as the best player in the world.

In the fan survey Vinicius came out well ahead of Rodri, who is now the firm favourite to take the 2024 Ballon d’Or after it was revealed that neither Vinicius nor Real Madrid are making the trip to Paris for the ceremony, having understood that the Brazilian has not won.

The French publication said: “For the award to be handed out this Monday, the favorite is Vinicius Junior (24, Real Madrid). The Madrid winger, who led his team to its 15th Champions League title on June 1 with a 2-0 victory over Dortmund, had a stellar season, scoring 26 goals and providing 12 assists across 49 matches.”

Vinicius got 41.3% of the votes, outpacing Spain’s Rodri, who received 13.5% of the votes after a season that saw him clinch both the Euro 2024 title with Spain and the Premier League title with Manchester City. Rounding out the top three is Jude Bellingham, the 2023 Kopa Trophy winner, with 10.3% of the votes.
