The three-way deal that would see Guillermo Ochoa move to Inter

Ochoa’s positive performances have not gone unnoticed in Europe, with Italy’s biggest sides keeping tabs on the goalkeeper.

Guillermo Ochoa has become a fan favourite during his spectacular season in Serie A. The Mexican goalkeeper has made the number one spot at Salernitana his own during the current campaign and Italy’s biggest clubs have turned their heads and taken notice. As things stand, Champions League semi-finalists Inter Milan are the team most keen on acquiring the services of the ex-Club América man.

According to Gazzeta dello Sport, Manchester United are too interested in signing a new shot stopper this summer, and have Inter’s André Onana in their sights as a possible addition to the squad. Their goalkeeping necessity is down to David De Gea’s situation, who does not want to take a pay cut on his huge salary and help Manchester United with their Financial Fair Play situation, meaning he may leave on a free in the coming months.

Ochoa comes into the Inter equation

In the case that Manchester United follow through with their Onana interest and secure the player, Inter would have a gap in the side that would need to be filled: enter, Ochoa. The Mexican goalkeeper signed a deal with his current team that only lasts a year, meaning that he too becomes a free agent as of July 2023, making any possible deal between the player and club a much easier proposal than if Ochoa had to wriggle out of a club contract with a team.

Salernitana, for their part, will try their best to maintain the services of the goalkeeper by offering him a new deal, but the final decision of staying put or taking the plunge and trying things out at a higher level will ultimately be down to the player.
