The new MLS season is just around the corner and clubs in the US have been getting back into the swing of things after Christmas. Teams have scheduled friendly matches ahead of the 2024 campaign that will serve to get them into the best possible shape for the start of the season.

Undoubtedly, one of the most attractive schedules of all those already announced is none other than that of Inter Miami. The Florida side will pass through Riyadh, Hong Kong and Tokyo, before finishing at home against Argentine outfit Newell’s Old Boys, in a special match for their star player, Lionel Messi.

Messi meets Ronaldo

During his time in Saudi Arabia, Messi will face Cristiano Ronaldo, the other star of his generation. Inter Miami’s move into Asia follows a clear business strategy and Messi attracts crowds everywhere he goes, with thousands expected to follow his every move on the upcoming tour.

Messi mania

MLS Multiplex managed to get in touch with the manager of Messi’s fan account in Arabic, who explained how the Messi phenomenon and the MLS phenomenon is experienced from countries so far away, but so close in terms of passion regarding Messi and soccer in general.

“I do see people tuning in to MLS games, most of them to follow Inter Miami or their upcoming opponents. Many times, the time difference is not an obstacle to be able to enjoy Messi in this new chapter,” said Maher Khubrani, the person behind the Inter Miami in Arabic account.
