Update:

Real Madrid’s 4–1 win over Elche at the Santiago Bernabéu delivered stunning goals, academy debuts and one moment that quickly went viral.

As the players celebrated, defender Antonio Rüdiger struck young midfielder Thiago Pitarch a thumping blow on the back of the head in a moment that left teammates laughing and briefly stunned the youngster.

The incident happened during the celebrations following Madrid’s fourth goal, when several players gathered together near the sideline. Cameras caught Rüdiger approaching Pitarch and playfully smacking him from behind before embracing him as the team continued celebrating.

The clip quickly spread across social media, adding another memorable moment to a night that was already special for Real Madrid’s academy players.

Madrid secured a comfortable 4–1 victory over Elche at the Bernabéu, with goals from Antonio Rüdiger, Federico Valverde, Dean Huijsen and a 70-yard stunner from Arda Güler sealing the win.

The match also stood out for the number of academy players involved. With several injuries affecting the squad, coach Álvaro Arbeloa gave minutes to multiple youngsters from the club’s youth system, including Pitarch, Manuel Ángel, Diego Aguado, Dani Yáñez and César Palacios.

Rüdiger smacks youngster Pitarch

Antonio Rüdiger is one of Real Madrid’s most experienced defenders. The German international joined the club from Chelsea in 2022 and quickly became a key figure in Madrid’s defense, helping the team win major trophies including LaLiga and the Champions League.

Thiago Pitarch, meanwhile, is one of the newest faces around the first team. The Spanish midfielder, born in 2007, has been rising through Real Madrid’s academy and currently plays with the club’s reserve side, Castilla.

Still a teenager, Pitarch is considered one of the club’s promising youth talents and was part of a group of academy players given an opportunity with the senior squad in the win over Elche.

The playful exchange between Rüdiger and the young midfielder captured the relaxed mood around the Bernabéu on a night when Real Madrid not only celebrated a comfortable victory but also showcased the next generation of talent coming through Valdebebas.
