Messimania in Miami

Within minutes of the official announcement of Messi’s arrival on 7 June, ticket prices for the Leagues Cup clash between Inter Miami and Cruz Azul rose from $40 to over $500. Now, there are no available tickets for less than $1,100 on the Vivid Seats tickets portal.

On other online sites such as SeatGeek, the cheapest seat for the game was priced at $1,060 on Wednesday, while GameTime are selling tickets for the match starting from $1,030.

Extra seating

DVR PNK Stadium, which is located in Fort Lauderdale, arounf 50 kilometres from Miami, can currently seat 19,000 spectators and the club plans to add additional seating over the next four weeks to increase capacity to 22,000. Even so, some of the best seats in the house, close to the pitch, are on the market for $10.000.

And while it is likely that Messi will make his debut on 21 July, there has also been a notable increase in ticket prices for the MLS clash away at Saint Louis on 15 July - the final regular season game before the league takes a break for the Leagues Cup. The cheapest tickets for that game at CITYPARK are on sale for $140.

Ticket prices have shot up considerably for all of Inter Miami’s games between now and when the regular season reaches its conclusion on 21 October - for example, a seat at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles to watch LAFC vs Inter Miami on 3 September will set you back $400.
