The Under-20 World Cup in Argentina could not have got off to a better start for Uruguay. Marcelo Broli has an exciting team at his disposal and La Celeste showed their firepower with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Iraq in their Group E opener. Goals from Matias Abaldo, Andres Ferrari and Alan Matturro, in addition to a fortunate own goal, secured a win that highlighted their status as one of this tournament’s dark horses. That was followed by a narrow loss to one of the favourites, England, but a final day win will see them progress.
Tunisia were less successful in their tournament opener but they will take heart from a narrow 1-0 defeat to that much-fancied England side. That was followed by a 3-0 victory against the whipping boys of the group, Iraq. They meet Uruguay at the Estadio Malvinas on Sunday, with a place in the knock-out stages at stake.
