Club America’s recent performances at the Apertura 2022 continues to create headlines with the side from the capital now one step away from the mark of eight wins in a row that they recorded in the summer of 1997 and with the 2-1 victory over Tigres, the club ties the 2021 seven consecutive wins run.

The club are trying to play down the feat as securing a top four place whilst important means little should Las Aguilas end up empty handed come the end of the season.

América’s run began in matchday 7 of the current Apertura 2022 tournament with a 2-1 win over Juárez, a matchday eight 0-3 win over Pumas was followed-up with another 3-0 over Pachuca. A derby win over Cruz Azul with a resounding 7-0 was followed with a narrow 0-1 against Querétaro. Mazatlán were the next victims ahead of Saturday’s matchday 12 win over Tigres.

America face San Luis midweek and a win would see them tie with their record and should all go well on Wednesday night, the matchday 14 contest against Necaxa could see the team write a new chapter in the club’s record books.
