England cruised through to the quarter finals of the 2022 World Cup after Southgate’s Lions kept their dreams alive after seeing off Senegal in Sunday’s Round of 16 clash in Al Khor. Goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka completed a comprehensive 3-0 win for England, who along with the Netherlands and Croatia are the only teams who remain unbeaten at 2022 Qatar.

England’s quarter final opponents are current world champions France, who beat Poland 2-1 in their Round of 16 clash.

Old foes
England and France have met many times since the first meeting, a friendly, almost a century ago. In total, the two nations have crossed paths 31 times - nine times in official competition and 23 times in friendlies.
