Will the United States be world champions? The pre-World Cup commercial in the USA is dividing opinions
With just over a month to go before the start of the World Cup, the hope remains intact in the US for the team led by Mauricio Pochettino.

With just under 40 days until the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada kicks off, the USMNT is beginning to rekindle the hope that had been questioned among fans of the Stars and Stripes just a few weeks ago.
It was through the Fox network, which will broadcast the World Cup in the United States, that the first in a series of commercials supporting Mauricio Pochettino’s USMNT was released.
The advert depicts the USMNT being crowned world champions on home soil against Brazil, sealed by a goal from Christian Pulisic, who is expected to be one of the team’s key players.

The promotional video features several figures set to appear on Fox this summer, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as well as homegrown talent and one of North America’s sporting icons, Tom Brady. He is joined by other American legends such as Bruce Arena and additional prominent figures from US sport.
However, the commercial’s release in the United States has divided opinion regarding the USMNT’s chances. Beyond the creativity behind the video, the team’s current situation under Mauricio Pochettino, who is about to announce his World Cup squad, has also raised concerns.
The United States’ recent results in the March FIFA window against Portugal and Belgium have fuelled serious doubts about what this team is capable of, further driving criticism of a campaign that portrays Team USA as world champions.
On social media, many users have described the advert as ‘exaggerated’ and ‘improbable’, arguing that it is attempting to sell an image that remains far from reality.
there are exactly zero dimensions where Fox creates a USMNT World Cup TV spot that is received well by the majority - so why not go all balls out ridiculous, over the top improbable, bathe it in Elvis and an Eruzione cherry on top - and just collect the clicks and discourse?
