2026 World Cup international friendlies: Who plays today, Thursday, June 4?
With just a week to go until the World Cup kicks off in North America, several nations continue their final tournament preparations today.
France and Spain headline today’s slate of World Cup warmup games, as two of the chief favorites prepare for this summer’s finals in North America.
Ahead of their bid for a third global title, France face a tournament tuneup against the Ivory Coast, who are gearing up for their first appearance at the World Cup since 2014. Meanwhile, 2010 winners Spain take on Iraq, a team that’s preparing to end a 40-year absence from FIFA’s international competition.
After today’s friendlies, France and Spain are to complete their pre-World Cup schedules with clashes against Northern Ireland and Peru, respectively.
Also among the nations in action today is Mexico: the World Cup co-hosts play Serbia, in their final runout before the tournament kicks off next week.
