Real Madrid worried about the San Siro pitch for the final

Real Madrid sent head groundsman, Paul Burgess, to the San Siro ahead of the Champions League final to inspect the pitch that has been causing some concern.

The state of the San Siro turf has senior people at UEFA and Real Madrid worried and with only eight days until the final which the Spanish side will contest between neighbours Atlético. Keith Dalton, the man at the European governing body responsible for operations went public with his concerns earlier in the week at the World Congress on Stadiums in Doha.

Madrid, meanwhile, took their own measures and sent head groundsman, Englishman Paul Burgess, to inspect the state of the pitch in Milan which including taking in the Milan-Rome game. It's very normal for Burgess to spend some time, as part of overall team preparations, in the stadiums prior to Real Madrid away games.

The San Siro pitch is a mix of natural and artificial grass. In total, around 30% is made up of artificial fibers, with the remaining 70% natural grass.
