REAL MADRID - ATLÉTICO
Champions League final: Xavi backing Atlético to win in Milan
Speaking ahead of Saturday's all-Madrid clash, the legendary former Barça star said Los Rojiblancos 'deserve' a maiden continental title.
Barcelona legend Xavi Hernández is backing Atlético Madrid to secure their first ever Champions League crown at the San Siro this weekend.
Looking ahead to Saturday's final in Milan, which sees Atlético come up against city rivals Real in a repeat of the tournament's 2014 showpiece occasion, the former Spain midfielder declared: "I think that this is Atlético Madrid's moment."
Atleti conceded a last-gasp equaliser as they lost out to Los Blancos two years ago, and four-time Champions League winner Xavi noted: "Football always gives you a second chance...now it's Atlético's moment".
"I believe Atlético will take home the trophy"
The 36-year-old, who currently plies his trade for Qatari outfit Al-Sadd, added that Diego Simeone's men 'deserve it', despite their brand of football not being his preferred style of play.
He went on: "In terms of history, Real Madrid are perhaps slight favourites as they have more experience of playing finals and of these situations.
"You have to take that into account, but I believe Atlético will take home the trophy."
