Atlético Madrid coach Cholo Simeone spoke after his side had been soundly beaten 0-3 by Real Madrid at the Calderón, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a hat-trick.
Simeone's post-match comments
For Simeone the turning point was the penalty awarded to Cristiano, with Real Madrid leading 1-0 at that point, but with Atleti having dominated the start of the second half. "In the first half they were better and we were better in the first 20 minutes of the second half. We were fine up to the penalty, from there it was all uphill", said the Argentine.
As to their rivals Real Madrid, Simeone said he thought they'd played well, "as they usually do just with Ronaldo up front. The didn't change their system much, but they played and pressed well".
The only positive Simeone took from the match was that it was an "opportunity to improve"; asked how he felt he said he hurts "for everyone on the team".
Simeone: Losing any game at the Calderón hurts
Asked if losing the last ever Liga derby at the Calderon hurt more, Simeone replied: "Yes, just like any other game we play here until the end at the Calderón".
