Cristiano Ronaldo gave an exclusive interview to France Football which will be published in tomorrow’s edition and in which he revealed a few details about winning Euro 2016 with Portugal. But the most eye-catching soundbite was what Antoine Griezmann, who had lost the Champions League to Madrid with Atlético just a few weeks before, said to him when the two men crossed paths several weeks later that summer: "The funny this was, on vacation in Miami I came across Griezmann in a restaurant, he was with his fiancée. He came up to my table and said to me with a smile: ‘I hate you’ ('Cristiano, je te déteste!') ".

Final agony

The Madrid No.7 also spoke about the knee injury he suffered which forced him to hobble out of the Euro 2016 final in tears after just 23 minutes: “I couldn’t bend my leg... it was then I realized it wasn’t going to be the final I had dreamt about, I couldn’t continue”.

Ballon d'Or

On Sunday night, Cristiano had given a brief interview to French television programme Téléfoot, broadcast on TF1. The piece was shot in Lisbon last week, and among the topics which the player spoke about was this year’s Ballon d’Or: “It’s been an incredible year for me, my best season. But the voting doesn’t depend on me so I can’t get obsessed about that. But if you were to ask me whether I want to win the Ballon d’Or, I’m not going to lie to you - obviously I do want to win it. I’m feeling confident because this has been my best season", he said.
