Real Madrid vs Granada

James this, James that, James will leave, James is staying put, James was a fan of Barcelona as a child... there has been a lot said about James Rodriguez in 2016. The number 10 arrived at Real Madrid in 2014, after an excellent World Cup in Brazil where he was a standout player. He also landed one of the most exquisite goals of the tournament too.

During the 2014-15 season, the Colombian star was on fire: he was the replacement for Angel di María and was an essential piece of the puzzle that Carlo Ancelotti was putting together. He was central to Ancelotti's plans, and James' father agrees, as he spoke exclusively was AS.com

"When Ancelotti was at Madrid, my son played very well, he played in his ideal position and was helping Modric. Now he has been pushed to one side and I can't say my son is doing anything wrong because I know my son is a worker, is humble and will play in whatever position the coach tells him to play in regardless of whether it is his best position or not," he said during the interview.

James injury problems

Many believe that the decisive moment in James' time at Real came when he went to play with Colombia before he had fully recovered from an injury and this resulted in a slow and arduous recovery process that saw him sidelined and pushed to the periphery. "That has nothing to do with it. My son is a an excellent professional and knows what he has to do to always be in good condition. He knows how to work," his father said.

Regardless of the pressure, Rodriguez' father is sure that his son will triumph in Madrid, "he is where he has to be, his dream was to play at Madrid and I know he will end up being successful. He just needs confidence and to be given more minutes. Zidane has to give him more minutes and continuity because I know that my son will be a success in 2017."
