Leicester City 2-0 Sevilla: match report
Sevilla are through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history after a relatively comfortable win over Sevilla in the second leg at the King Power Stadium. Sevilla, who rued chance after chance in the first leg, did not get those same chances tonight despite having a much larger chunk of possession than their opponents.
The game started as expected, with Leicester back to themselves, chasing lost causes like their livelihoods depended on it and running a tight ship at the back. Despite Sevilla starting with more possession, the home side soon found their feet and started testing Sevilla's back line. They had their reward on 27 minutes when Jamie Vardy was fouled and Riyad Mahrez clipped the free to the back post where it met Wes Morgan's thigh to give them the lead in the tie on away goals.
It was much of the same for the rest of the half with Sevilla failing to ever find that next gear that might propel them into scoring a goal. Sampaoli brought on Stevan Jovetic for the second half along with Mariano in an effort to find that goal but it was Leicester who would find the back of the net first when Marc Albrighton tucked a left-footed shot home after a poor headed clearance by Adil Rami.
Leicester, it seemed, had finally awoken a sleeping giant though as Sevilla went on the attack in search of a goal to bring it to extra-time. As they started to gain a real stranglehold, Samir Nasri collided with Vardy and the pair were booked for butting heads, literally. Vardy walked away and Nasri was sent to the dressing room as he had been booked in the first half for a kick on Ndidi.
Sevilla were going to have to do it the hard way. Six minutes later, Kasper Schmeichel took Vitolo down as he was put through by Joaquin Correa and the referee pointed to the spot. Just like in the first leg though, Schmeichel dived and saved the penalty from Steven N'Zonzi and their luck had deserted them. Sevilla were reeling. They pushed for that illusive goal but it seemed Leicester were more likely to bag a third than the visitors were to bagging their first. It ended 2-0 with the King Power going crazy and Sevilla left licking their wounds with their LaLiga challenge in tatters and now their exit from the Champions League.
AS IT HAPPENED

Min 90 + 2 | The ball pops up to Correa, who rifles a shot that is always rising. goal-kick to Leicester.
We will have four minutes of added time.
Leicester City substitution - Mahrez is replaced by Amartey. Mahrez also gets yellow for his lacklustre effort to get off the field in a timely fashion.
Min 88 | Mahrez breaks and puts it on a a plate for Vardy but he blazes over the bar and hits himself a succession of punches on the face. Yes, that's how upset he is that he missed that one.
Min 87 | Another really good chance for Leicester as Mahrez puts Slimani through but his touch is too close to Rico and he slides out to collect.
Min 86 | A slip-up at the back by Rami as he watches the ball float over his head and Vardy nearly makes it three. He heads straight at Rico though and as he fails to gather, it goes out for a corner.
Min 84 | Ndidi booked now for an elbow to the face of Iborra.
Min 83 | Sampaoli just got sent off and he walks into the stands. This is going from bad to worse for Sevilla.

Min 80 | N'zonzi kicks it to Shcmeichel's left and he gets down to save it! Poor penalty. Sevilla in real trouble now.
Min 79 | Correa plays Vitolo through and he tries to chip it over Shmeichel, which he does. Then the keeper takes him down and the referee points to the spot. PENALTY!
Min 77 | Sevilla still hogging the ball but no chances still. They can not get through this Leicester defense. It is actually reminiscent of an Atletico Madrid game two years ago. They are also looking dangerous on the break.
Min 74 | Nasri and Vardy collide and Nasri ends up with a second yellow. Sevilla down to ten men. It was off the ball after Vardy pushes the French midfielder twice before the two push their heads against each other and Vardy falls backwards. Both of them were booked and that is a huge advantage to Leicester City.
Min 72 | Sevilla probing again but still no real chances.
Min 71 | Vitolo and Fuchs having a very good battle on that side of the field. The latter coming off way better and has Vitolo in his pocket. He tries another cross under pressure that goes out for a goal-kick and he lies on the ground and looks exhausted.
Min 69 | Vitoli, already booked, throws himsefl into a tackle with Slimani and the tall striker catches him with an elbow. Free to Sevilla but Vitolo needs to be careful.

Min 67 | Rico boxes away a Mahrez cross but it lands to Vardy and his left-footed shot bounces off the ground before going wide.

Leicester City - Islam Slimani replaces Shinji Okazaki.
Min 62 | Sevilla with plenty of possession now but still no chances at goal. They win a corner. Cleared before it comes back to Nasri, who plays in Ben Yedder and his cross too is cleared.
Min 59 | Vitolo booked after being put under serious pressure by Fuchs and having a shout at the ref because he felt he was fouled.
Min 58 | Nasri really unhappy after catching Drinkwater and bringing him down. He's on a yellow so he might want to curb his outbursts.
Min 57 | Vardy looked to be clattered in the back as he tries to control it with his chest but the referee waves his arms and says NO!
Min 55 | GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! Sevilla are absolutely in tatters. Marc Albrighton picks up a failed headed clearance by Rami after a Mahrez cross and he neatly tucks it into Rico's bottom corner with his left.
Min 54 | A collision between Vardy and Pareja has the pair squaring up to each other. No free but Vardy is unhappy that he was cut off by the defender and Pareja is unhappy with the kick out by Vardy.
Min 53 | An absolutely cracking effort by Escudero. Looked like it was going 10 yards over the bar but it dipped perfectly before hitting the underside of Schmeichel's crossbar. So close to an equaliser on the night. It was to Ben Yedder, who blazes over.
Min 51 | This is turning into an end-to-end game now. Nasri the latest to try after Okazaki is dispossessed at the edge of Sevilla's penalty area.
Min 49 | Vardy collides with Mariano in the air but he is up and about again after a slight break. Seems he was buying his side a little breather to take the sting out of the visitors' good start to the second half.
Min 48 | More intent from Sevilla in the second half as Vitolo gets a cross in but huth clears for a corner.
Min 46 | We are underway for the second half! Vamos.
Stevan Jovetic replaces Pablo Sarabia and Gabriel Mercado comes off for Mariano.
Leicester City 1-0 Sevilla: first half summary
Leicester City are back to their very best under Craig Shakespeare and it also helps that Sevilla are currently in the middle of their most difficult spell of the season. the home side have set out with a plan much like last year and are calm both in and out of possession and have that little but of creativity and intent going forward they lacked in the first leg. Sevilla are lacking that very creativity but it also feels like they have enough to get one, at the very least and I would expect Jorge Sampaoli to make a change for the second 45 in an effort to force the issue.
Leicester City 1-0 Sevilla: team news
Min 45 | Into the final stages of the first half and Leicester have a free-kick in a similar position to the one that landed them the first goal! They play it short and Drinkwate tires a curler and it's blocked. Half-time.
Min 43 | Mercado gets a shot across the box after some pressure from Leicester. Ben Yedder has to try and flick it with his heel towards the goal but it is blocked and put out for a corner. Schmeichel's kick-out after claiming the corner is perfect as Vardy takes on Escudero and wins. He tries to chip it towards Okazaki and Sevilla clear. It lands to Vardy again who has a shot that goes well wide.
Min 41 | Fuchs makes his way into the penalty area, is nearly pulled down, before getting a tame shot away. This is a different Leicester City team to that one that played in Andalusia a few weeks ago.
Min 38 | Vardy lays it off to Drinkwater outside the box and he has a shot but it rolls into Rico's gloves. Sevoñña break before Vitolo is fouled by Mahrez.
Min 37 | Mahrez has a run at Escudero but the left-back gets a tackle in and Sevilla break. Nasri ends up with it out on the left but his low attempted cross is blocked and ends up in Schmeichel's hands.
Min 35 | Not entirely sure what Sarabia was trying there as he puts the ball out for a goal-kick. Seemed his mind, or body was working too fast for the other. He hangs his head and knows it was a wasted chance.
Min 32 | Mercado has a cross that turns into a shot but Schmeichel turns it over the crossbar for a corner. Sevilla coming to life now. No massive chances yet.
Min 30 | Drinkwater's clearance is headed back into the danger zone before a moment of hesitation that leads to Ben Yedder on the ball but his low shot is wide of Shmeichel's goal.
Min 29 | Vitoli switch the play deep, and finds Mercado on the other side of the penalty area. He lays it off to Iborra, who has a shot that is half-blocked for a corner.
Min 27 | GOAL! Morgan bundles the ball over the line at the back post after a really enticing cross from the free by Mahrez. The King Power is abuzz.
Min 26 | Vardy runs himself into trouble but as he tries to turn, Iborra dives in and Vardy makes sure he makes contact with his leg. Free to Leicester in a dangerous position as Mahrez sizes up his options.
Min 25 | Nasri caught in possession as Sevilla work hard to win it back. Leicester really up for this one and chasing down every Sevilla player whenever they get the ball at their feet. Sevilla a little flat.
Min 23 | Simpson gets a foot to the ball ahead of N'Zonzi and the Sevilla player seemed to clip him as he passed with his knee. Referee says not though.
Min 21 | Nasri finds Ben Yedder, who does well to kep possession and lay it off to Sarabia but his shot drags and rolls well wide. Good combination by the visitors who have shown how dangerous they can be once or twice so far despite soaking up plenty of pressure.
Min 20 | Rami's collides with Okazaki and puts it out for a throw. The Japanese attacker gets up wondering what day it is.
Min 18 | Yellow card for Samir Nasri as he drove Ndidi a kick! He is really lucky he didn't see red as he blatantly took a swipe at the midfielder's legs.
Min 17 | Rami with a central defender's free-kick there as it floats over the bar. Looked like more of a pass to someone behind the goal than an effort to score.
Min 16 | Ndidi chasing Vitolo but as the Spanish attacker gets across the Leicester player, he gets a slight nudge and falls over. Free to Sevilla in a dangerous position as Kasper Schmeichel eyes it up and sorts out his wall.
Min 14 | Sevilla eventually get the ball down and throw a few passes together. Okazaki fouls Vitolo as they slow it down even further to their pace. They have to take the sting out of this one because Leicester are playing like their old selves.
Min 13 | Vardy with a tackle that was sure to get the fans off their feet as he dives about five yards in the air to block a clearance.
Min 11 | Corner by Albrighton very nearly met by Morgan as he rises to meet it but it's cleared by Sevilla. Leicester City really pushing for this goal!
Min 9 | Vardy looking dangerous again and this time he is up-ended by N'Zonzi. Free to Leiecester that is hit to Okazaki but his shot is blocked and Sevilla are back in business as they try to take control of this game.
Min 8 | Okazaki shepherded out of play by Escudero as the Leicester attacker puts it out over the endline.
Min 7 | Rami and Vardy up against each other as the speedy striker tries to buy himself a yard but the former AC Milan defender dives in and puts it out for a throw. Well-timed tackle.
Min 6 | Sevilla put under pressure by Leicester to the delight of the Leicester fans. Throw to the home side.
Min 4 | Ben Yedder puts it into Nasri, who takes it down and makes a nice angle for himself before driving a shot at Schmeichel. The Dane is equal to it and bats it away with a strong left hand. Corner Sevilla.
Min 2 | Long throw in like a laserbeam by Fuchs but Huth is penalised for a flailing arm that catches Rami.
Min 1 | Mahrez thought he was away but was clipped by Escudero and threatened to fall for about 10 seconds but no free. He looks perplexed as to how that wasn't a foul. Escudero makes away with the ball.
Min 1 | We are underway at the King Power.
Leicester City vs Sevilla: team news
Leicester City vs Sevilla live stream: Latest news
20:42 | The blue and white flags waving as Leicester and Sevilla take to the field. Atmosphere is crackling in King Power Stadium as the the Champions League anthem blares over the PA system.
20:38 | Just a couple of minutes away from kick-off now in what Gary Lineker says is the biggest game in Leicester City's history. He's not wrong and if they can get an early goal, it will really force Sampaoli's side to come out of their shell. How will Nasri respond to being back in England and can he bring this season's form back to a place where he spent eight years with Arsenal and Manchester City.
20:32 | Riyad Mahrez has had a difficult season after his amazing form of last season but one competition he has excelled is in the Champions League. He is Leicester's top scorer with four goals and they have scored just eight with the other goals coming via four different scorers. Sevilla have scored nine goals in this season's CL but only one player, Ben Yedder has scored more than one (2), the rest have been shared between seven other players.
20:25 | Leicester are the first team since Malaga in 2012-13 to finish top of their group in their rookie season in the Champions League. Not bad at all for a team who were in freefall before Shakespeare took over. They were sleepwalking to relegation after winning the Premier League last season.
20:24 | Some more bad news for Leicester as they have never beaten a Spanish side in European competition and drawing one and losing four.
20:20 | Sevilla have not lose away from home in this year's Champions League. A draw tonight would do them just fine. They have not conceded in all three of those games either.
20:11 | The weather is set to reach a high of 10 degrees tonight and it will be a cloudless night in the east Midlands of England.
20:05 | Sergio Escudero set to play a big role tonight too. He has been phenomenal for Sevilla this season and just signed a new deal to keep him at the club until 2021. Very smart business by the club as he will likely be sought after during the summer transfer window.
19:56 | There's a stat for you courtesy of OptaJose. Craig Shakespeare becomes the third English manager to manage a knockout CL game after Bobby Robson and Harry Redknapp.
19:48 | The team news is in and Sampaoli opts for Ben Yedder up front in place of jovetic from the weekend. Correa, El Mudo Vazquez, Mariano, Kranevitter, Carrico, Montoya and Lenglet also out of that line-up. Menawhile, Slimani remains out for Leicester and Shakespeare is sticking with Shinji Okazaki.
19:35 | Sampaoli and SEvilla were mobbed by fans after they beat Real Betis in the derby recently. It might not be the exact same reaction tonight if they win but they will certainly make history with their first trip into the quarter-finals in the Champions League.
19:21 | Looking back at the first leg, Sevilla dominated with 68% possession and 22 chances along with a missed penalty to Leicester's eight. They failed to get that third goal though and with Vardy landing Leicester an away goal, it gives us a very nervy specatacle tonight for the visitors. Kasper Schmeichel was excellent that night and the Leicester Mercury said, "without him this tie would have been over by half-time". Shakespeare and co. will be hoping he doesn't have to be as involved tonight but with Sampaoli's attacking style, I wouldn't bet against it.
19:04 | Sevilla last played in a European Cup last 16 in 1957-58 when they made it to the quarter-finals. They beat AGF from Denmark 4-0 at home before losing 0-2 away from home thus securing their place in the next round where they would play Real Madrid. A pulsating 2-2 draw in the first leg in Seville meant it was perfectly poised for the second leg, and a trip to the capital. This is where the script takes an ugly turn as they were trounced 8-0 by their Spanish opponents with Alfredo Di Stéfano scoring a haul along with recently deceased Raymond Kopa landing a brace.
18:41 | Sevilla are coming off two draws with LaLiga new boys Alaves and Leganes, two draws that has derailed their title tilt.
18:36 | Prior to the first leg, Sampaoli warned Leicester against "living in the past" but now admits that they provide an entirely different proposition since they moved on from Claudio Ranieri. They embarrassed Liverpool and the beat Hull City in a typical 2015-16 style Leicester City fashion since Craig Shakespeare took over.
18:17 | Ben Yedder, who has scored 16 in 32 appearences for Sevilla this season, said recently that he does not regret moving to Andalusia over Paris in the summer where he was linked with a move. Can he go one better than the Parisians tonight by making it into the Champions League quarter-final?
18:10 | Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their search for a Sporting Director and Monchi's name has been thrown into the conversation. Interesting to consider that Jorge Sampaoli recently said that his future could be linked to Monchi and whether he remains at the club. If Monchi was to leave, could Sampaoli do the same with the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona possibly looking for new managers during the summer.
17:55 | Oh, and Spain's reported flirtation with Spurs' Harry Winks is another tidbit that might just pique the interest of those of a Premier League persuasion...
16:50 | Here's a piece of news of interest to Premier League fans: former Chelsea star Michael Essien has today sealed an exotic move to Indonesia.
15:50 | Leicester City are 16/1 to beat Sevilla in tonight's Champions League second leg.

12:10 | Director of AS, Alfredo Relaño previews tonight's game at the King Power in his daily editorial column.
11:15 | Apparently Craig Shakespeare played a bigger part in Leicester's title win than many know
10:25 | Hello and a very warm welcome to our live feed of Leicester v Sevilla, last-16 second leg Champions League 2016/17 match, to be played at the King Power Stadium with kick-off at 20:45 (CET).
Leicester v Sevilla: Preview
With the first leg having finished nicely poised at 2-1 in favour of Sevilla, both sides will believe their name could be heading into this Friday's quarter-final draw, although the Spanish outfit have to be considered favourites having outplayed Leicester at the Sánchez Pizjúan, and they certainly felt they deserved a bigger margin of victory.
Leicester
Just after Leicester's visit to Seville, football was shocked, if not surprised, when the club dispensed of the services of the man who will likely be the most famous coach the club ever have. Claudio Ranieri, who led the Foxes to last year's Premier League title, was sacked and Leicester will have his replacement, Craig Shakespeare, in the dug-out.
Since Shakespeare took over Leicester have seen the boost that often comes with a change of coach, recording two 3-1 wins, over Liverpool and Hull City and the new coach, who has been given a deal to the end of the season, is coming into the match optimistic, saying he feels Leicester can win the Champions League.
Leicester have all their players available.
Sevilla
Sevilla are no strangers to European success, but their dreams are bigger this season. They'll feel confident after the first leg, although they will be all too aware that a 1-0 defeat would see them dumped out on away goals. Beware of Vardy! will be their watchword.
And it's true that Sampaoli's side have somewhat dropped their level recently, recording two 1-1 draws against two of LaLiga's smaller sides, Leganés and Alavés. That said, no doubt any Sevilla fan would bite your hand off if you offered them that scoreline after 90 minutes in Leicester.
Sevilla will take heart from their own away form this season in the Champions League, despite having visited Turin, Zagreb and Lyon they are yet to be beaten on the road (0-0, 0-1, 0-0 respectively).
Leicester vs Sevilla live odds
The bookies recognise Sevilla as the favourites, and were offering around 6/5 on Sampaoli's side claiming a victory. Leicester meanwhile could be had at 6/4, with the draw coming in around 11/4.
To qualify, Leicester were being quoted at 5/2, with Sevilla at 1/4.
Think Vardy will grab the first goal? He's around 21/4...
