Barcelona will report PSG to UEFA if the French club meet Neymar’s €222m release clause.

Barcelona believe PSG would breach FFP

Barça deem that no club has the financial strength to sign Neymar without breaching Financial Fair Play regulations. As such, the Azulgrana will ask UEFA to investigate the origin of the money.

European clubs are obliged to make their accounts public, or at least they must make the accounts available for consultation if required. The management at Barcelona will analyse the origins of PSG’s ‘Neymar fund’ with a fine toothcomb, if the Parisians manage to complete a deal that looks increasingly likely to go through.

It would not be the first time that PSG have failed to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations. PSG and Manchester City were handed fines in 2014. With that blemish on their record, it is possible that PSG could be suspended from European competition if they are found to be in breach of FFP again.

Neymar deal could see Di Maria join Barcelona

PSG, however, have a plan to sign Neymar while remaining within the rules. The Ligue 1 club intend to pay the release clause, and avoid incurring additional tax by offering Barcelona €70m-valued players. Ángel Di Maria is one of the names being mentioned, and he would be a welcome addition at Camp Nou.
