Mirotic out for several weeks, Portis suspended

Mirotic is sidelined until further notice. Chicago Bulls confirmed that the player was taken to hospital suffering concussion and initial tests revealed several facial fractures which will require surgery. The former Real Madrid player will be out of action for several weeks and will need to wear a protective mask when he makes his return to the game. Portis has been suspended by the club and will face disciplinary charges.

It's the latest episode in what has been a frustrating start to the season for Mirotic, who spent the whole summer waiting for news on his future. He finally prolonged his time with the Bulls, signing a two-year contract worth 27 million dollars. His first three seasons in Chicago haven't exactly been sparkling - he has averaged a modest 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds with a discreet 35% success rate in three pointers.
