Santi Cazorla signs up for a third spell at Villarreal
The Liga club have officially announced the signing of their former midfielder on a one-year deal after a successful trial period.
Villarreal have officially announced that Santi Cazorla will form part of the Yellow Submarine’s squad for the 2018-19 season with the club he represented between 2003 and 2006 and again from 2007 to 2011 set to offer the midfielder a one-year deal.
Cazorla made 228 appearances for Villarreal during those spells and was a member of Spain’s 2008 and 2012 European Championship-winning squads, although he missed the 2010 World Cup success through injury.
The midfielder moved to Málaga in the summer of 2011 and then to Arsenal a year later, where he becamer a firm fan favourite and won the FA Cup twice.
Cazorla's inury nightmare
The 33-year-old has spent most of the past two seasons on the sidelines with a series of serious injuries and there were concerns at one stage that he might even lose his leg due to gangrene after undergoing several operations on a knee problem.
However, now back to fitness, Cazorla was offered a trial at his former club and as long as he shows no ill-effects after his lengthy pay-off, the Submarine will offer their former midfielder a one-year deal to make an emotional return to the game at the stadium where he made his name.
