Goalkeeper Keylor Navas is expected to stay at Real Madrid next season, regardless of the club's activity in this summer's transfer window.

AS has learned that Los Blancos are closing in on the signing of Roma and Brazil number one Alisson, in theory paving the way for Navas to leave the Bernabéu. However, this newspaper can reveal that the Costa Rican international has no intention of listening to any offers, and is set on remaining in Madrid.

Keylor confident he'll keep hold of the Real Madrid gloves

Having been Real's first-choice goalkeeper - and contributed crucial, outstanding performances - in the side's three consecutive Champions League triumphs, Navas has complete faith in his ability to see off Alisson, or any other custodian, in the battle for the jersey.

Recent history also suggests that new boss Julen Lopetegui is an admirer, further fuelling the confidence of a keeper who only renewed his deal 18 months ago, and is under contract until 2022. When Lopetegui was in charge at Porto, he eagerly pursued the signing of the then-Levante stopper, before finally missing out to Real.

Navas would see any move as a step down

Navas' determination to stay on also comes down to the emotional bond that he has built up with Real Madrid in his four seasons in the Spanish capital - and the fact that, having experienced life at the 13-time European champions, the 31-year-old would view a move to any other side as a step down.
