Mbappé case: UEFA delay Financial Fair Play decision to Monday

UEFA have delayed making a decision on the Financial Fair Play investigation into PSG until Monday. European football's governing body has been examining in detail the major operations which brought Neymar and Mbappé to the French outfit for 222 million euros and 180 million euros respectively (although Mbappé was structured as a loan deal with a purchase option). If PSG are found to have broken FFP rules they could be forced to offload players. 

Real Madrid will therefore have to wait until next week to find out if they have a chance of making a major signing from the French club. The Spanish giants haven't signed anyone since Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Juventus in a 117 million euro move and won't rock the boat with PSG unless the French club are forced to sell by UEFA.

One of the focuses of UEFA's investigation is the structuring of the Mbappé deal as a loan which in reality appears to have concealed an outright sale of 180 million euros. The French club is now due to pay the full amount, meaning the full effect hits their cash flow. Real Madrid's hope is that PSG will be forced to sell; at no point have the Spanish club ever wanted to anger the French club. Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez will now have to wait until Monday at the earliest to find out if he has a chance of landing a major summer signing.
