The first occasion for supporters wishing to attend UEFA’s 12 nations hosted Euro 2020 has attracted a record number of ticket applications, with fans having just a 1 in 10 chance of success of bagging a match ticket in the forthcoming ballot.

UEFA confirmed that 14 million applications were made during the month the ticket portal was active (June 12-July 12) with 1.5 million tickets being made available. Requests for match tickets hailed from 204 different countries with the most active requesting nations being: England, Germany, Russia, Hungary and the Netherlands.

Of the 14 million initial requests over one million requests alone were submitted for final game which will be staged in London's Wembley Stadium on July 12th.

Wembley demand

The English venue proved to be the most popular with demand for games in the English capital highest followed by Munich’s Allianz Arena home to FC Bayern Munich and Ajax's Amsterdam Arena.

Euro 2020 is being played in 12 cities across Europe for the first time to mark the 60th anniversary of the competition.

A random UEFA ballot will be conducted to allocate the tickets and this is expected to be held at the end of July with all applicants set to be contacted by UEFA by mid August with a status update on their initial requests.

The next portal opening will be in December 2019 with the draw for the 24 qualified nations and confirmed fixtures taking place in Bucharest on November 30. Fans will then be able to purchase team linked tickets via UEFA and local federations.
