Martin Palermo had a short adventure coaching Pachuca last year in the Mexican soccer championship. In his first semester managing the team he surprised everyone when Pachuca qualified for playoffs but six months later he failed to repeat that achievement.

After failing to qualify Pachuca to the playoffs in his second semester as head coach he was fired by the bosses. He lived his first experience in the Liga MX only lasted 10 months but he has only positive things to say.

“I think the Mexican soccer championship is growing each semester. I had a good experience managing Pachuca, it was very interesting and the league has a good structure. Also all the teams are very competitive and that is why the games are very interesting,” Palermo commented in an interview for Juampi Reynoso.

The former player also highlighted the great structure that Pachuca has and his experience being the head coach, “In my short career, in Pachuca was where I felt more as a head coach because of the players I managed, the support I had from the president, the clubs structure and Pachuca is an important team in Mexico.”

“During the first tournament we made it to playoffs and we got beat by Tigres UANL, who ended up winning that semester. My second tournament we failed to qualify because Monterrey had two more points than us and they ended up winning that semester. I believe we did a good job at Pachuca.”

In the end Palermo said that if there is a chance he could go back and manage another team in Mexico he would take it in a blink of an eye, “I think that we lacked knowledge in some things while I was managing Pachuca, the altitude for example,  but like I said before I had a great experience and I would like to return.”
