Xolos and Chivas see out a goalless draw
It was a 0-0 stalemate between Chivas and Xolos in matchweek 13 of the 2020 Guardianes tournament.
After losing to Club América in ‘El Clásico’ Chivas bounced back by defeating Mazatlán in matchday 12 of the 2020 Guardianes tournament.
This week, the Guadalajara-based outfit visited Tijuana side Xolos, with both sides walking away with one point after they failed to score over 90 minutes.
Chivas with the high pressure
Chivas usually like to put high pressure on at the beginning of each half and that was not the exception against Xolos. ‘JJ’ Macías tested Orozco in the second minute of the game but his shot was blocked by the Xolos goalkeeper.
A few minutes later, Jesús Angulo shot from long distance, but once again Orozco saved what could have been the first goal of the game for Chivas. The home team responded in the 35th minute when Rivera took a shot on goal but Raúl Gudiño blocked the shot, showing why he was named Chivas' starting goalkeeper earlier on in the tournament.
Both teams continued to show a lack of sharpness during the second half as they failed to score a goal. At the end of the 90 minutes both teams left with a sour taste in their mouth and they will have some time to regroup during the FIFA international break.
Chivas must prepare for ‘El Clásico Tapatío’ against Atlas at the Akron stadium on 17 October. With this latest result, the Guadalajara club find themselves in eighth place with four games left of the regular season.
