The story behind the 'Snyder Cut'
After a family tragedy forced him to leave production of Justice League before completion, director Zack Snyder was replaced by Joss Whedon, who oversaw a film that was a critical and commercial flop.
This led to calls for Warner Bros, the studio behind the film, to release an alternative cut that Snyder had apparently all but finished before being replaced by Whedon.
Among those to join in the social-media campaign #ReleaseTheSnyderCut were Justice League stars Ben Affleck (who plays Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Ray Fisher (Cyborg).
And in early 2020, Warner Bros announced that a version of Snyder's original cut would indeed be coming out. The running time? Just over four hours.
