Real Madrid to sue Eufemiano Fuentes over doping remarks
The doctor, who is involved in the largest doping scandal in Spain, responded vaguely to the question about his alleged connection with the club's doctors.
As reported by Josep Pedrerol on TV show Jugones of La Sexta, Real Madrid will sue Eufemiano Fuentes for the statements he made about Real Madrid in an interview with Jordi Évole that was broadcast on Sunday night.
The extract from the interview:
"Did you advise the doctors at Valencia?" Évole asks Dr. Eufemiano Fuentes, the key figure in the largest doping scandal in Spanish sport in the mid-2000s.
"No", the doctor answered with certainty.
"You advised the Real Madrid doctors?." Fuentes pauses, lowers his head, holds his forehead ...
"I'm not going to answer that question."
"With who could we talk to at Real Madrid to find out if you worked with their doctors?" Eufemiano Fuentes fidgets in the seat, asks if he has water, grabs a bottle of water. "May I? While I drink, I'll think".
"You have referred to the Real Madrid doctor as Alfonsito," continues Évole.
"Sure", answers Fuentes. "So, obviously, to a doctor offended by having been linked to me, you can't ask him. Who else witnessed that? Nobody else."
"And about that?". Évole insists.
"What I said did not happen."
"What a turn of events, huh?" Évole said.
"You got me, you got me", Eufemiano replied.
