The Atlanta Hawks held off the Milwaukee Bucks in the final seconds of the fourth quarter to secure the opening win of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Young stuns in Game 1

Trae Young continued his sensational debut playoff run by scoring a postseason career high 48 points. Young had a sub-par Game 7 against the Sixers, but made up for lost time starting hot and never cooling down in Game 1.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been sensational all postseason, but his 34 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists weren’t enough to top Young and the Hawks. Jrue Holiday dropped 33 points to keep things tight until the fourth quarter but an 18-8 Atlanta run to end the fourth quarter was enough to give the road side their third straight series opening win in their postseason campaign.

Hawks snap a 10 game losing streak in ECF

It was the Hawks' first Conference Final win since 1969. Before Wednesday’s Game 1 victory Atlanta had lost 10 straight in Conference Finals games, including the 2015 Conference Finals where they were swept by LeBron and the Cavs.

Milwaukee will be hoping to avoid heading to Atlanta down 2-0, but it won’t be easy against the best road team in the playoffs this season. Nate McMillan’s Hawks have won six games on the road and will be looking to make it seven tonight.

When does Game 2 start?

The second game of the Eastern Conference Semis between the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks will take place on Friday 25 June at the Fiserv Forum. The game gets underway at 8:30pm ET / 5:30pm PT.
