Josh Sargent obtains first league win with Norwich City
The United States men’s international striker played 12 minutes in the Canaries' first Premier League win of the campaign, against Brentford.
Norwich City finally obtained their first win of the 2021/22 Premier League season by defeating Brentford 2-1 on Saturday. Mathias Normann and Teemu Pukki scored for the Canaries to give them their first three points of the campaign, but the bosses decided to sack manager Daniel Farke in spite of the result.
"In continuing to demand the very best for our football club, this decision was not an easy one," said Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber. "I know how determined Daniel and his staff were to succeed at this level, but we feel that now is the right time for a change to give ourselves the best opportunity of retaining our Premier League status."
Josh Sargent saw some minutes in first win
The United States men’s international team striker came on as a substitute and played 12 minutes against Brentford. It was his 10th appearance of the season for the Canaries - he has made six starts and used as a substitute four times. He is struggling in his first year in the Premier League because he has yet to find the back of the net.
Norwich City are currently in last place with five points and a record of 1W-2D-8L. The Canaries know what is like to be in this position - in the 2020 they were relegated after one season in England’s top-flight.
