**Nigeria vs Cape Verde live online: scores, stats and updates, WC 2022 qualifying**

The CAF 2022 World Cup qualifiers continue on Tuesday with Nigeria's meeting with Cape Verde as the top billing. Nigeria go into the game sitting proudly top of Group C on 12 points and having dropped points just once - the Super Eagles suffered a shock 0-1 defeat to Central African Republic in the first official encounter between the two nations last month.

Gernot Rohr's troops return to the scene of that defeat, the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos to take on a Cape Verde side who have looked equally as impressive in the qualifying rounds. The Blue Sharks had a shaky start to the Second Round, being held to a 1-1 draw by Central African Republic then losing their next game, against Nigeria 1-2 with Kenny Rocha Santos turning the ball into his own net late on. But since then, they have been on a winning streak, beating Liberia home and away and coming back from a goal down to beat CAR at the weekend.

Cape Verde go into the game second in the standings on 10 points and facing the only team they have suffered a defeat to as they attempt to advance.

A win for either side would see them advance to the Third Round. A draw would be enough for Nigeria but not for Cape Verde so there will be a lot at stake in Lagos in what promises to be a tense match. It will also be a significant milestone for Gernot Rohr who will oversee his 54th match in charge, surpassing the record which he shares with former Nigeria coach, Shaibu Amodu.

Apart from the September meeting in Mindelo, Nigeria and Cape Verde have crossed paths just once before - in a friendly in January 2013 which failed to produce goals.
