Ricardo Pepi voted 2021 MLS Young Player of the Year
The 18-year-old striker received the award after an impressive breakout season with FC Dallas and the United States men’s national team.
From the FC Dallas academy to the first team and now on the radar of several UEFA Champions League clubs. Ricardo Pepi has become the latest sensation for club and country and on Thursday he was named the 2021 MLS Young Player of the Year after a breakout season.
Pepi was FC Dallas’ top scorer during the regular season with 13 goals and three assists. He notched his first career hat-trick against the LA Galaxy on 24 July and a couple of braces against the New England Revolution (27 June) and against Austin FC (29 August).
He made his debut with the United States men’s national team this year, scored and gave two assists in the 4-1 win against Honduras in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers. This is the second individual award for Pepi this year after being voted No. 1 on 22 Under 22 list last month.
Pepi on the radar of several clubs
The 18-year-old striker has formally put in a transfer request to FC Dallas front office and it is reported that he will leave the club during the next transfer window. Clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg have shown interest in signing the USMNT player.
