A former quarter back who was actually once on the roster of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Bengals' coach has seen his stock rise immensely in recent years, but by just how much? Let's take a look.

Who is Zach Taylor?

Born in the small town of Norman, Oklahoma, Taylor actually had dreams of being a quarterback in the NFL. In fact for the better part of his college life and even the initial years after, that's exactly what he tried to do After a stellar high school career as a quarterback for his local school which ended in 2001, he was not actually recruited by many colleges. It wouldn't be until 2004 when he made his way to Butler Community College that the football fraternity took notice. With just one sensational season under his belt he moved on to the University of Nebraska.

During his time in Nebraska, fate would finally play it's hand. With dreams of an NFL career still at the forefront of his mind Taylor met his future wife and daughter of NFL coach Mike Sherman, Sarah Sherman. That meeting was to have major implications going forward. In 2007 Taylor actually got an opportunity with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but finally went un-drafted at which point he began to consider a different path. That path is what led him to follow in the footsteps of his now father-in-law. After periods coaching quarterbacks and the offense at the University of Cincinnati,Taylor actually got his shot in the NFL with the team he is now set to face in the Super Bowl on Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams. There he served as wide receivers coach and then quarterbacks coach until finally he got his chance at a head coaching job with the Bengals in 2019. With his hiring Taylor became one of the youngest coaches in the NFL at 36 - his counterpart in Sunday's game, Sean McVay being the youngest.

While he had a slow start to life with his first two seasons being nothing to write home about, the fact is that his third season has quite frankly been historic. The Bengals posted a 10-7 record in the regular season en route to a Wild Card win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Then it was Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Playoffs, before finally putting down the heavily favored Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC championship game. With that victory, Taylor orchestrated the Bengals' first Super Bowl Appearance in more than three decades. Not bad work for a coach who was seen as a risk.

How much does Zach Taylor earn?

Though his CV might not be long in comparison to other coaches out there, the fact is that Zach Taylor has achieved some big things in a short space of time. With that he's also positioned himself amongst some of the top earners in the business. At present Taylor's salary sits at approximately $6 million per year, with many reports suggesting that figure is about to go up. In terms of his net worth, it's understood that Taylor's is around $2 million. While this may seem low, it's largely due to the fact that Taylor appears to be a discreet and family focused man who has not sought out many endorsement deals. With all that he's achieved this year with the Bengals, however, one can expect them to come looking for him whether the Bengals win or lose come Sunday.
