With recent NBA All-Star games resulting in extremely high scoring shootouts, we have a look at the highest, and lowest, scoring games of all time

Update:

As the NBA’s All-Star weekend reaches its climactic conclusion, the hype that has been lined up is impressive. Adopted by Cleveland, native son Machine Gun Kelly and DJ D-Nice will introduce Team LeBron and Team Durant for the All-Star Game.

But the celeb intros don’t stop there. At halftime, Usher, Spike Lee, Tiffany Haddish and Anthony Anderson will "take fans on a journey through the league’s first 75 years" before Earth, Wind & Fire perform their hit "Shining Star”.

Tip off is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 20.

After 2021’s Team LeBron 150-170 victory, we all hope for another high scoring shootout, but what is the highest score ever recorded in an All Star game?

The most points ever scored by an individual team was in 2016 when the West All Stars scored 196, but the combined highest scoring game ever took place in 2017 when a joint 374 points were put up in a Western Conference 192-182 victory. In this same game, Anthony Davis put up 52 points, 20 in a single quarter, both of which are All Star records.

Generally a competitive final score, whatever the quality of play, the All-Star Game has been decided by a single point four times. The East claimed the 1965 title 124-123 and again in 2001 with a score of 111-110. The West took the 1971 crown 108-107 as well as the 1977 win 125-124.

The widest margin of victory remains the West’s 153-113 triumph in Orlando in 1992, marking the return of the game’s MVP Magic Johnson, record holder for most career All-Star assists at 127 and the most assists in a single game with 22 in the 1984 edition.

On the other end of the spectrum, the lowest points total in All-Star history was put up in the third ever All-Star Game in 1953 where the East and West shared just 154 points with the West coming out on to to record their first ever All-Star win 79-75. The 75 points scored by the East remains the low water mark for any All-Star side.
