LA Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly could make bid to buy Chelsea

Chelsea FC is up for sale and a handful of people are interested in acquiring the Premier League side. Owner Roman Abramovich's decision to sell the West London club is in great part because of the war in Ukraine and his alleged ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003 and after 19 years will sell the team, but he is in no rush to accept just any offer. According to multiple reports, the Premier League side already rejected a 2.5 billion-pound offer from an anonymous investor, but they are set to receive another.

Negotiations will continue this weekend

Per reports, Los Angeles Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly is working alongside Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss to make an offer to buy Chelsea in the upcoming days. The consortium that is led by Boehly has to present the official proposal before 15 March, a deadline imposed by Raine Group, a firm based in New York, and they are confident it will go through.

The offer from the United States billionaire could be close to 2.2 billion pounds, even though Abramovich is asking for at least 3 billion pounds, when he only paid 140 million pounds in 2003 when he bought Chelsea. The consortium thinks the the Russian billionaire is asking for too much, but they are also aware that more offers will be presented in the upcoming days.

Who is Todd Boehly?

According to Forbes, Boehly has a net worth of 6.2 billion dollars and he is part-owner of MLB team the Los Angeles Dodgers and NBA side the Los Angeles Lakers.
