It’s the matchup we have been waiting to see even before the Harden/Simmons trade. Now that the blockbuster midseason deal is done we get to see the first of what of could be many matchups between the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers.

 Simmons out, Harden to play

In the early tip of the night, the Nets and the 76ers will square off for the first time since the blockbuster trade that sent Ben Simmons to the Big Apple, and James Harden to Philly.

Simmons won’t be able to make his Nets debut, but will be on the bench at the Wells Fargo Center. Surely the home fans in the City of Brotherly Love will have a warm welcome for their former point guard that jump ship this offseason.

Meanwhile on the court two of the top talents in the league square up as one of the favorites for the NBA MVP, Joel Embiid, will take on Kevin Durant.

Sixers rolling, Nets reeling

The restart after the All-Star Break has not treated the Nets too kindly. They are coming off of a 132-121 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night, but they have lost five of their last seven games. The good news is this game is away from home, as strange as that may sound. The road game means that Kyrie Irving will be suited up fresh off his 50 point performance in Charlotte.

The Sixers have been in seventh heaven since the James Harden trade. While the former Nets guard didn’t debut immediately he has played a handful of games, while getting intermittent rest days to allow his injured hamstring to recover. In five games, Harden in Philly, Harden is averaging 24.6 ppg and 12.4 assists to go along with his 7.6 rebounds.

Philly has won six of their last seven and eight of their last ten to soar up the standings in the East. Coming into tonight the Sixers sit in second right behind the Heat, while the Nets are finally back to .500 after their win over Charlotte on Tuesday. Brooklyn still sit in Play-In position and have their work cut out if they are going to catch up to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 6th for a direct playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
